Donna Tourneur

Donna Tourneur is a storyteller.

Her stories are always told with warmth and are poignant, entertaining, colourful, factual, and often humorous! Stories of her relatives, of her life, of the bible.

When she was a child, Donna’s father, Dave MacLean, worked for the Royal Bank and so her family moved quite often. She can recount family experiences in each of the many communities she’s lived in within Nova Scotia, as each left a unique impression on her. Eventually they moved to Cape Breton and she ended up staying, raising her family while her parents moved on. Eventually, her father retired from banking and went into ministry.

Donna grew up in an accepting, welcoming family. Though they had three biological children, her parents adopted a daughter and welcomed foster children into their home as well. She never knew who would be around the table come dinner time! To this day, Donna embraces the same open, welcoming, hospitable lifestyle put forward by her parents.

Donna tells wonderful stories of her life with Charlie and their five children. It was a busy, happy household - and for much of the time, was spent in a house Donna and Charlie built themselves. So many adventures, challenges, highs and lows, and all filled with love.

The Reid/MacLean families have a long history in Pictou County and it is only fitting that Donna’s calling brought her and Charlie to Trinity United in New Glasgow. She loves to discover distant relations and extended family branches with everyone she meets, even if the connection is very distant!

On Sundays, as she is telling us the stories of the bible, she can make connections to the present or the past; of her own life, or of those she has met. Stories that enrich our lives, brighten our days, comfort us, or simply entertain us.

Donna Tourneur is a storyteller - have a little faith and listen.
